Abstract
Two trials with two home-made control sera were used to assess external immunoserology quality control between member laboratories. In this assessment, nine immunoserology items were included. Those were Widal test, antistreptolysin O (ASO),
C-reactive
protein (CRP0, Rheumatoid factor (RF), Serologic tests for syphilis (STS), hepatitis B surface antigen (HBg Ag), hepatitis B surface antibody (Anti-HBs), anti HCV and anti-HIV.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. The response rates and the results of immunoserology test items showed no marked difference as compared to previous years' report.
2. Widal tests were still widely used(about 80% response rate) but the concordance rate was not so good. And the most widely used immunoserologic test items was hepatitis B markers i.e. HBsAg anti-HBsAb. All the member laboratories performed
HBsAg
and
Anti-HBsAb. Anti-HCV test showed the lowest response rate(about 45%).
3. Nephelometric methods in protein immunochemistry fields were rapidly increased among member laboratories.
4. The result of Anti-HCV trial 94-S-4 serum showed some disagreements in EIA results between member laboratories. By the confirmatory Western blot(recombinant immunoblot assay, RIBA), it was proved to be indeterminate or nonspecific reaction.
WE hop that domestically manufactured immunoserology control sera could be introduced and actively used near future in Korea.
